Q1. If 2A = 3B = 4C, then A : B : C is :
Solution
: 2A = 3B = 4C = k
A : B : C =
= 6 : 4 : 3
Q2. If 1/3 A = 1/4 B and 1/4 B = 1/5 C, then A : B : C is
Solution

A : B : C = 3 : 4 : 6
Q3.If A = 1/3 B and B = ½ C, then A : B : C is:
Solution
A : B : C = 1 : 3 : 6
Q4.If x : y = 2 : 1, then (x2 - y2) : (x2 + y2) is :
Solution

x : y = 2 : 1
Q5.If (4x2 - 3y2) : (2x2 + 5y2) = 12 : 19, then, x : y is:
Solution

Q6. If a carton containing a dozen mirrors is dropped, which of the following cannot be the ratio of broken mirror to unbroken mirror?
Solution
.(c): Sum of both ratios should be less than 12 & should be a factor of 12
(a) 2 + 1 = 3
(b) 3 + 1 = 4
(c) 3 + 2 = 5
(d) 7 + 5 = 12
Q7.A amount of Rs 2430 is divided among A, B & C such that if their shares be reduced by Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 15 respectively, the remainders shall be in the ratio 3 : 4 : 5. The share of B is?
Solution
(d): (A - 5) : (B - 10) : (C - 15) = 3 : 4 : 5
= 600 : 800 : 1000
A + B + C = 605 + 810 + 1015 = 2430
B = 810
Q8. X, Y, & Z share a sum of money in the ratio 7 : 8 : 16. If Y receives Rs 27 more than X, then total money, should was?
Solution
(c): x : y : z = 7 : 8 : 16
y - x = 27 diff of ratio = 8 – 7 = 1
Hence, multiply by 27
x : y : z = 7 : 8 : 16 = 189 : 216 : 432
x + y + z = 189 + 216 + 432 = 837
Q9. Rs 407 are to be divided among A, B, C so that shares are in the ratio of 1/4 : 1/5 : 1/6. The respective share of A, B, C, are?
Solution
.(a): A : B : C = 1/4 : 1/5 : 1/6 = 30 : 24 : 20
A + B + C = 407 = A +
A +
A =
A
A = 165, B = 132, C = 110
Q10. If Rs 1066 are divided among A, B, C & D such that A : B = 3 : 4, B : C = 5 : 6 & C : D = 7 : 5 who will get the maximum ?
Solution
.(c): A : B = 3 : 4, B : C = 5 : 6, C : D = 7 : 5
A : B : C = 3 x 5 : 4 x 5 : 6 x 4 = 15 : 20 : 24
A : B : C : D = 15 x 7 : 20 x 7 : 24 x 7 : 24 x 5
= 105 : 140 : 168 : 120, Maximum is C
